Sex and Eros
November 29, 2023
There is a difference between sex and eros - these two words are actually not interchangeable even if we might think that eros is just a nicer term for sex.
Each of these words describe a quite large and different concept (as is known in Tantra but also in Modern Sexology).
Like sugar and honey, both taste sweet but have very different effects on our health and well-being.
We can all agree that all sexual experiences are definitely not all the same! We can actually systematically discern what makes love making amazing and what makes love making not so great - and that’s a really revolutionary idea.
The underlying difference between these two experiences is due to the difference between sex and eros.
Understanding this difference you can not only completely revolutionise your love making experiences but also your relationship with sensuality, love, pleasure, your body and much more.
All possible issues we have around sexuality are in one way or another born from the misunderstanding between sex and eros.
Sex is driven by instincts, so whilst it is pleasurable, it is a superficial pleasure and is not fulfilling beyond that brief moment.
It is for many overpowering, bringing a loss of control and it often leads to overindulgence or obsession, or to forced avoidance, emotional roller coasters, painful attachments, and experiences that either fall short of expectations or bring regret.
Eros is a conscious expression of physical love and elevated passion, where the other is not an object for satisfaction, but a beloved being with whom we merge – and at the same time, eros is a revelation of our own innermost being. It brings profound happiness and fulfillment.
When we start to connect to our erotic nature we will see that all aspects of our life become pleasurable, arousing, lively, inspiring, fulfilling (regardless of our age) and we will also start to feel more connected to our essence.
Eros is an integral part of our lives and an integral part of our being, it is not a separate experience but in fact an aspect and expression of our soul.
Eros is actually the experience that most of us are longing for when approaching intimacy.
